Anti-Vandal Protection at Signal c861

A severely deteriorated trackside cabinet was protected within a purpose-built SafeBox AV enclosure, restoring physical security without dismantling the existing installation or disconnecting its wiring.

The brief

The external shell of the existing cabinet had suffered extensive corrosion. Its doors could no longer be secured correctly, leaving operational equipment vulnerable to weather exposure, accidental damage and unauthorised access.

The internal installation remained operational. The required solution therefore had to protect the existing cabinet in place without interfering with its equipment, wiring or connections.

What we did

ALIAS completed a measured survey of the cabinet and its surrounding installation before manufacturing a SafeBox AV enclosure specifically for the site.

The hot-dip galvanised welded structure was assembled around the existing cabinet while the original installation remained in place.

The completed enclosure incorporated concealed hinges, protected fixings and a four-point locking system using hardened steel locking bars. Identification markings were reinstated before final inspection and handover.

The result

The original operational cabinet remained in place and was fully protected within a new SafeBox AV enclosure.

The installation restored secure closure, improved resistance to forced entry and external damage, and provided long-term environmental protection without modifying or disconnecting the existing wiring.
