Battery Shelter Renewal

Two ageing battery shelters were replaced with SafeBox AVAC units designed to provide secure environmental protection, full frontal maintenance access and integrated battery-retention provision.

The brief

The existing battery shelters had become difficult to secure and no longer provided suitable access for efficient inspection, maintenance or battery replacement.

The client required a robust replacement that could use the established site footprint, minimise additional civil engineering and improve protection for the batteries and associated equipment.

What we did

ALIAS assessed the existing concrete bases and prepared the required installation arrangement before manufacturing two SafeBox AVAC shelters for the site.

Each shelter incorporated a hot-dip galvanised welded structure, C5M external protection, secure four-point locking, full frontal access and an integrated retention tray.

The battery equipment was transferred into the new shelters, after which the units were secured, inspected and handed over.

  • Installation of integrated environmental retention trays.
  • Transfer and arrangement of the battery equipment.
  • Securing, inspection, labelling and handover.

The result

The site now has two secure and maintainable battery shelters with unobstructed frontal access to the installed equipment.

The new arrangement simplifies future battery inspection and replacement, improves resistance to forced entry and weather exposure, and provides controlled environmental containment while making maximum use of the existing site infrastructure.
